I mentioned in my last post that I'd been out to a party this evening. It was alright, not my usual crowd and a little too stuffy for my liking, but it was good I guess.
I don't really drink a whole lot, but tonight I kind of got carried away.
The "do" was for a ex-colleague, she's just leaving the place where we used to work together. We stayed in touch after I left and after fifteen years of being there she's now moving on too. So I got to catch up with my old boss, a few people I haven't seen for a couple of years and met a few interesting guys and girls. But one of those guys was an 18 year old who'd been "told about me".
Yeah, remember way back when, and you met a gay guy for the first time, and you were barely out of the closet? I think a lot of us kind of got hooked on a gay guy because he was so new and like our only connection to the "gay world" right? Please tell me I'm not alone in that!
So it seems I've become that for this lad. He's got my number and already text me once. Don't get me wrong, I'm as eager to teach a virgin the ropes as you are, but I know that's likely to come with a whole lot of drama and intensity. He was following me around all night as it was!
I might give him a call in a couple of days. Maybe we'll go out for coffee and I'll try to be supportive or something. I know I could have used that when I was looking for a way into the gay scene. Of course I can't really offer him that because I'm out of all that myself. Maybe that's what I'll start with - "The gay scene isn't what you think it is!" lol
